The sport of triathlon has experienced explosive growth since its official beginnings in 1982. Initially this growth was adult-driven as mature athletes discovered the joys of multi-sport. Recently however, there has been a dramatic rise in youth participation. Youth-only triathlons, camps, and clinics have popped up all over to introduce youth to triathlon, develop and hone their skills, and offer them opportunities to race safely. We, in the Pacific Northwest Region (PNWR) are now doing our part as well! To service our youth, a group of like-minded Boise businesses have joined forces with USA Triathlon (the governing body of triathlon) to offer Youth and Junior triathlon clinics, camps, and races!
Clinics and Camps
With our clinics and camps, we strive to provide a superior and complete triathlon experience for youth ages 7-19 in order to foster a lifelong love of swim, bike, and run. By combining the expertise of the best minds in Southern Idaho youth sport development along with the tried-and-true structure and organization of USAT youth programs, we offer a safe, supportive, fun, and educational experience for youth of all ages and abilities. Whether it's your child's first bike ride or your junior who wants to compete at Junior Nationals, our clinics and camps will challenge, motivate, and provide appropriate direction.
Youth Triathlon Development Clinics (ages 7-15)

Curriculum is the same for each clinic.

USAT Junior Elite Pacific NW Regional Camp (ages 13-19)

Our June Camp as been selected by USAT to be the Pacific Northwest's Regional Camp! This special designation means that:
- Youth from all over the PNWR (Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Hawaii, and Alaska) will participate.
- A team of expert USAT-certified triathlon coaches from the PNWR will be working with your kids.
- The Regional Athletic Development Coordinator (RADC) will be identifying youth/juniors ready to participate in Youth Elite and Junior Elite National Championships (San Diego, Aug. 6-7).

We believe that excellence comes from cooperation. So, in order to provide PNW-area youth with the best possible triathlon experience, we combined the best that Southern Idaho has to offer! Our team consists of:
- Dr. Jeffrey Shilt, MD (orthopedic surgeon, triathlete)
- Endurance Training and Fitness Center (home to the very successful BYRDS youth cycling program)
- FLOW Aquatics (youth and adult swim instruction)
- Gold's Gym (health club - Parkcenter and Fairview locations)
- Performance High, LLC (USA Triathlon-certified triathlon and endurance sport coaching)
- Sunset Racing (triathlon event creation, coordination, promotion)
- Therapeutic Associates Physical Therapy (Boise, Nampa locations)
- USA Triathlon (U.S. National Governing Body for the sport of triathlon)
- USA Triathlon Pacific Northwest Region (covers Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, and Washington)
