John Kormanik, Triathlete
In 2007 my wife, Michelle and I purchased road bikes with an eye toward cross-training, maintaining our fitness, and possibly doing a triathlon. As Karma or fate would have it, the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Boise triathlon was announced a few months after that purchase. Once registration opened for the Boise 70.3, we signed up...immediately. Then, per usual, I went out and bought a book on triathlon training. I opened the book, started reading, and both my wife and I began to have second, third, and fourth thoughts! I knew we needed help.
I decided to enlist the help of Performance High and its Half Distance training program. After completing the training program, we both successfully completed the 70.3 event! The week following the Half, I insanely thought, "That wasn't so hard...why not do an Ironman?" Once again, through the help of Performance High, I successfully completed Ironman Coeur d'Alene!
Performance High's programs have helped me become a "smarter" athlete better able to balance work (I'm an attorney with a busy litigation practice), my family (still married with a teenage daughter; my wife and daughter still speak to me), and my training. I have come to understand that, for me, triathlon is not just a sport, but a lifestyle. To say I "enjoy" being a triathlete is an understatement. I love it and cannot wait for what is next - Ironman Arizona 2010!!
